Our Story
Ride On Lithium began when our founder, an avid RVer and solar enthusiast, struggled to find clear, reliable information about lithium batteries for their setup. After nearly making a dangerous mistake with improper equipment, they realized how much misinformation existed in the space.
We started in 2018 as a small blog sharing lessons learned from our own experiences with lithium batteries. Today, we've grown into a trusted resource for thousands of campers, RV owners, DIY solar users, and e-bike riders looking for honest, thoroughly researched information.
While we've expanded our team and content, we've stayed true to our original mission: providing clear, practical guidance to help people make informed decisions about their power solutions.

View Our GuidesFrequently Asked Questions
Are lithium batteries really better than lead-acid for RV and camping use?
For most applications, yes. Lithium batteries offer significantly longer lifespan, faster charging, lighter weight, and the ability to use more of their rated capacity. While the upfront cost is higher, the long-term value is typically better for regular users.
How do I know what size battery system I need for my setup?
Start by calculating your daily power consumption in watt-hours. Add up the power requirements of all devices you plan to run, multiplied by how many hours you'll use them each day. Our battery sizing calculator (available here) can help with this process.
Can I replace my lead-acid batteries with lithium without changing other components?
Often, but not always. While lithium batteries can typically connect to the same terminals, you may need to upgrade your charger to one designed for lithium chemistry. Some older alternators or solar charge controllers may also need replacement. Always consult equipment manuals before switching.
How should I store lithium batteries when not in use?
For extended storage, lithium batteries should be charged to approximately 50-60% capacity and stored in a cool, dry place. Avoid storing them fully charged or completely discharged for long periods, as both can reduce lifespan.
Are lithium batteries safe for use in extreme temperatures?
Lithium batteries perform well in a wide temperature range but have specific limitations. Most shouldn't be charged below freezing (0°C/32°F) without built-in heating elements. High temperatures (above 45°C/113°F) can also reduce lifespan. Always check your specific battery's specifications.
